Alibaba's Qwen3.8-27B became the top local model on the Cline platform four days after its release, ending a four month lead held by Qwen2.5-Coder-7B. The open-weight system also secured the number one rank among its peers on Harvey's Legal Agent benchmark.
The 27B parameter model is ranked number six among open-weight models on the Vals Index v2. Alibaba Qwen stated the system is small enough to operate on local machines while remaining capable of handling professional tasks.
