All students from kindergarten through 12th grade are now blocked from using generative artificial intelligence tools on tablets and laptops provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District. A district spokesperson confirmed the restriction following a school board committee meeting on September 2.

The moratorium is the latest step in a series of efforts to limit classroom computer use across the district. The ban applies to all school-issued devices, prohibiting students in every grade level from accessing generative AI platforms.
