The desire to avoid the pressures of being a newly public company during a period of heightened risk is delaying OpenAI's listing, CEO Sam Altman said. He stated that the firm will not pursue an IPO until it can make confident safety claims about its artificial intelligence models. Altman cautioned, however, that postponing the move for too long would be "bad for the world."

Altman believes investors will remain patient with the planning process, as the company currently has no specific date in mind for the offering. This follows statements made on Sept. 29 that the artificial intelligence developer had not yet established a formal schedule to list its shares on a public exchange.
