Energy access is becoming the primary limitation for artificial intelligence development in the United States. Elon Musk told a G20 tech meeting that companies need to find power sources outside China to maintain the AI buildout and avoid bottlenecks. He stated that AI is already driving productivity gains and could ultimately increase the size of the global economy by 20% to 30%.

European Union tech regulations inhibit the progress of new technology, Musk said during the summit. He added that the global AI race now depends on which entities can secure necessary power and operate with fewer regulatory barriers to accelerate the deployment of new tools.
