The semiconductor company will expand its production footprint in Idaho with the construction of new memory fabrication plants. Micron is allocating $50 billion toward two new facilities in Boise that will create 17,000 jobs. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra announced the buildout to scale domestic capacity for memory chips.

The project accompanies a separate $10 billion investment in Micron Research Labs, the first dedicated memory research institution of its kind in the US. Based in Boise and focusing on compute architectures for the AI era, the lab will break ground in 2027. These additions are part of a broader $250 billion US expenditure on manufacturing and R&D intended to create 90,000 jobs.
