A new infrastructure project in Tennessee and Mississippi is supporting 7,500 local jobs through the development of AI training clusters. SpaceX is investing more than $90 billion in the region to build the Colossus 2 cluster, which will feature a 3.3 GWh Tesla Megapack installation, the largest grid-connected battery pack in the United States. The buildout includes a $360 million clean water recycling plant designed to process 10 million gallons of wastewater daily and offset 3.64 billion gallons from the Memphis Aquifer annually. The company is also funding two electricity substations in Memphis for a total of $55 million, including one 150 MW facility to support the Memphis Light, Gas and Water division. To mitigate environmental impact, SpaceX has spent millions on sound walls and next-generation turbines and is removing all remaining temporary power turbines by July 2027 per an order from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. These regional investments are projected to generate over $60 million in tax revenue by 2026.
