The chipmaker is pursuing a strategic expansion into the energy sector to mitigate the power constraints currently limiting the growth of artificial intelligence. Nvidia is in advanced talks to invest several hundred million dollars in Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a developer that arranges power for data centers and maintains a pipeline exceeding 10 GW. The move follows previous investments in power developer Lancium and SoftBank's SB Energy.

Cloverleaf has sold more than 7 GW of powered projects to developers including Oracle and OpenAI. The potential partnership is designed to protect the delivery and deployment capacity of Nvidia's GPUs by securing reliable electricity and land for future data centers.
