The electric vehicle manufacturer is distributing notices for a public presentation of its autonomous taxi hardware. This event, scheduled for September 3 in Austin, marks the official introduction of the Cybercab and provides a concrete date for the purpose built vehicle's debut.
Tesla is intentionally limiting the addition of Model Y units to its robotaxi fleet to prioritize scaling the Cybercab in the near term, according to a note from JPMorgan. The company views the upcoming FSD V15 release as the primary gateway to unsupervised autonomy, supported by an AI4.5 compute system designed for 10% higher FLOPS and twice the memory of previous hardware.
