The Ministry of Science and ICT increased its AI budget 84% to 9.42 trillion won, allocating 3.85 trillion won specifically for computing power. Three consortiums led by SK Telecom, KT, and Kakao will manage the "AI for All" program, which begins beta testing in September 2026 before a nationwide launch later this year. The government is providing 512 Nvidia B200 GPUs to support the initial rollout of uncapped AI services for a population of 52 million.
Domestic mandates require that 80% of all AI queries are processed through Korean models, with at least 50% running on the operator's specific model. The program creates recurring demand for Nvidia compute and high bandwidth memory from producers like Samsung and SK Hynix. South Korea will spend more than 200 trillion won through 2030 to deploy 260,000 GPUs and 10,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin class chips to establish an "AI Universal Basic Society" and reduce reliance on U.S. and Chinese technology.
