Finland Halts 2 Google Data Centers Month After $15B Investment

Finland's Licensing and Supervision Agency ordered Google subsidiary Tuike Finland Oy to halt all construction activity at data center sites in Muhos and Kajaani until environmental impact assessments are completed. The suspension affects sites where hundreds of hectares of forest were cleared and comes roughly 30 days after Google pledged to invest $15B in AI infrastructure in Finland. All work at the sites must cease by October 23.
