Reddit Ends RSS and Public API Access to Block AI Bots

The social news platform will disable all public API access by March 2027 and stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13. Reddit is removing these access points because the feeds have become a target for abuse by AI bots, and the company is not providing a replacement for the RSS functionality.

The changes restrict the ability of third party developers and tools to pull content from the site without user authentication. By eliminating these public-facing conduits, the platform moves toward a logged in experience where data is accessible primarily through authenticated accounts.
