A new mobile exploit developed with AI models can seize control of WeChat accounts on iOS and Android without user interaction. WeWorm, as the tool is named, operates as a zero click worm that spreads via phone calls, allowing an attacker to compromise an account without the recipient needing to answer the phone.

Researchers demonstrated the worm's capabilities by spreading it across three test phones to prove the effectiveness of the attack chain. The tool triggers a takeover when a call is initiated from a contact, bypassing traditional security prompts to fully compromise the targeted mobile device.
