Server makers producing hardware for Microsoft, Google, and Oracle have begun notifying clients of cost hikes for shipments starting early next year. Bloomberg reports that prices for AI servers containing Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell chips will climb more than 15%, with exact amounts varying by chip generation and memory configuration.
Surging DRAM costs from Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are driving the price pressure. While hyperscalers such as Meta and Amazon are developing in-house silicon, they remain dependent on Nvidia for data center buildouts that may now face increased margin pressure or added complexity.
